San Francisco

Wait… this is a photo from your trip to Greece! Negative Ghost Rider, this photo was taken near downtown San Francisco at the Palace of Fine Arts. Apparently, this place was constructed in 1915 for the Panama-Pacific International Exposition. For labor day, we decided to do a whirlwind trip to San Francisco to check out Chinatown

One of the first stops in San Francisco was the fisherman’s wharf. I turned around for just a few seconds and could not find Jessa. However, I could smell a very familiar scent…. not flowers…not bubba gump’s shrimp… nope chocolate. I figured, she probably went inside of this big place with the sign “GHIRADELLI Chocolate Factory”. I meandered inside, and sure enough she was already in line and had picked out exactly what she wanted. I thought I would be a sweetheart and get her a chocolate covered strawberry, but was confused by the pricing it said $6 and I kept asking how many strawberries does that come with… 4, 5, perhaps 8 if we are lucky. WRONG -_- it came with a single tiny strawberry. That was absurd, and in that instant I knew that I would not be retiring early. However, the caramel apple sundae was exceptional and worth every penny.

That afternoon we visited the Japanese Tea Garden to prepare for our honeymoon that was slated for Japan. I proudly said “Ocha to Mizu kudasai…” and got a funny look. Sigh, I guess my language refinement skills would have to wait. The scenery was beautiful and really transported you into a different country. This made us even more excited for our honeymoon destination.

No trip to San Francisco would be complete without exploring the vibrant streets of Chinatown. We met up with Andrei’s college buddy, Keenan, and his wife Cami. We had an excellent dim sum meal and ordered a lot of food. I don’t know what all they ordered, but it tasted great. We did a lot of shopping in China town and Jessa was very happy. We don’t normally buy lots of souvenirs but according to Jessa we needed all of these spoons and chopsticks for the Asian cuisine we planned on cooking after the trip.

In conclusion, the trip was a great success. We walked over 30 miles in just under 3 days and we managed to avoid all the scary parts of San Francisco. Our advice, stay as close to Chinatown and be prepared for a lot of hills and fog.
