Chicago 4/19-4/22: We decided in lieu of a bachelor party or bachelorette party, we would each pick an item on our bucket list we wanted to accomplish. Jessa wanted to have afternoon tea in Chicago, so we made that dream come true. However, afternoon tea is not the same in a large city without your twin so Jenna came to Chicago with us to celebrate.

Chicago was full of incredible architecture and amazing views of the river. The first night we enjoyed Gordon Ramsay’s Burger which did not disappoint, and stopped by the Ghirardelli shop for an ice cream sundae. The next day, we enjoyed an all you can eat buffet south of the loop that included a lot of cajun food (not what you would expect to find in Chicago). We walked the food off by touring the Fields musuem. The dinosaur exhibits were massive, and Andrei was extremely happy. Yes, Andrei tagged along for the bachelorette party since he had been to Chicago and ensured we stayed safe.

Lately, we had been getting into this board game called “wingspan” which involves lots of birds. Jessa loved seeing all the birds at the museum. After the museum we made our way to the famous hotdog place called Portillos. Our unpopular opinion was that Portillos was overrated for the hype. We waited over an hour for the food, and Andrei ordered an italian sandwhich that came out looking super soggy and was cold. Sorry Costco beats out Portillos on this round.

Later that evening, we enjoyed a nice dinner at the Trump Tower overlooking the river. We then went on a evening river cruise and captured some really great photos. Chicago really feels like Gotham City from the Dark Knight series when its cloudy and dark.

The next morning, we ventured into the world’s largest Starbucks. Jessa’s twin (Jenna) actually works for Starbucks and was able to get us a great breakfast! After breakfast we checked out the top of the Hancock Tower (or whatever they renamed it to). I can’t keep track of all the building renamings. I might just call it “tall building with poky things on top”.

Following the observation deck we found a hole in the wall ramen shop called Friends Ramen to help us practice for Japan. The food was excellent and it really felt authentic. Andrei then dropped us off at the Drake hotel for our afternoon tea for some much needed twin time. Andrei kept himself occuppied doing who knows what, and met us back after the tea. We weren’t very hungry that evening but Andrei sure was, and we stumbled upon a restaurant called “Weber Grill Restaurant” like the ones every guy owns. The ribs were excellent and the service was outstanding. That evening we walked along the riverwalk and took in the views one last time. Chicago was an awesome time and involved a lot of walking and picture taking.
